THE PARALLELS BETWEEN WORKING OUT AND SERVING GOD

Hello Friends,

There are many parallels between physical exercise and serving our maker; and today I am going to mention a few key things that make doing these important to your walk in this life, and the next.

Disclaimer:  Just because you don’t workout doesn’t mean you aren’t saved, it only means you aren’t as healthy as what you could be. Also, the Bible never directly tells us to lift weights or to do cardio, but we know that these things are required for us to become the best version of ourselves for God.

The similarities between the two:

We all know we should be involved with it:  Honestly!! Whether we were raised with either of these things or not, we all know that we will be a much healthier person both mentally and physically when we exercise and when we serve God. When we use common sense, we will naturally be more open to the idea of there being a higher power and we will resent the idea that we all exist due to a big bang. The same goes for exercise. Everyone knows deep down that they should be doing it, and no one can truly argue against it.

You can’t ignore it once you know the truth:  Once you know the truth about God and the Bible it would be foolish to ignore it. In fact, most people can’t. Once you know about God’s love and forgiveness, you would be a fool to decline God’s offer of eternal life. As far as exercise goes; we all know we should be working out. When we neglect our bodies and then see someone jogging down the side of the road, or when we see a gym, or even when we see a healthy looking person, it will remind us that we need to step it up. Now whether we do or not, it will always be somewhere in our mind because we know we should be involved with it.

Not because we have to, but because we want to be better: Joshua 24:15 says – “choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” The Israelites didn’t HAVE to choose to serve God, but they did because they knew it was a good decision. Modern Christians should be like this as well. We shouldn’t say the prayer just because we feel like we must, we should have a strong desire to be better, thus leading us to accepting Christ’s offer of eternal life. And like before, physical exercise is the same way. We don’t HAVE to jog, bike, or lift weights, and we shouldn’t have to just because someone wants us to. We should want the health, longevity, and clarity of mind that comes from exercise. We should be more than happy to dedicate a couple hours a week to our overall health and happiness. 1 Corinthians 9:27 states – “But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.”

Serving God should always come before working out, but please remember that both things are very important. When you do these two things, you will move on from the past, be confident in the present, and you will be healthy and holy in the future.

God Bless,
Noah Brewster

BEING AN EXAMPLE

Hello Friends,
First of all I would like to tell you how amazing it is to be saved, and to know that I have a reserved seat in the kingdom of God. This happiness that I possess is from the faith that I have in things that I cannot see. Many unhappy humans will criticize people for having this type of confidence about something that no one can really put their finger on. However, I have seen firsthand where faith in the father can get you, and how much someone’s life can improve once they begin living for Christ.

Disclaimer – When I say living for God, in no way am I referring to the people who have only said the prayer. I’m talking about the people who actually LIVE for God by growing in Him and by being an example of God for others.

Being an Example: With having the gift that every person can receive, (Jew and Gentile alike), it would be a sin for us to hide the light of God. However, many people act as though the only way to spread God’s word is by preaching to people. The only problem with this is that most people don’t want to be preached to about this subject, (Especially if they see that you’re hypocritical). Believe it or not, sometimes simply living a life in reflection of the Father is more effective than preaching to people.

This takes me to my next point; actions speak louder than words. It’s a fact. So, if you want to be effective in serving Christ, then you need to make sure that you are living the type of life that God would have you live. 1 Peter 2:12 states – “Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.”

Don’t get me wrong, it is wonderful when you get the chance to witness to someone. But, if you are truly living a life for Christ, and are a good example of him, then people should be able to see that something is different about you. Then the people who would be willing to change will be curious because they’ll see that there is something special about you. What they’ll see about you that’s different is – 1: You will be more smiley and happy, 2: you’re conversations will be positive and uplifting, 3: You won’t have piercings and tattoos all over your body, and 4: Your mannerism will be different.

Titus 2:6-7 says – “Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity.” These things are all obvious indicators that you are different. And, the closer we get to God’s will for our life, is the farther we will be from the ways of the world.

IMPORTANT VERSES TO REMEMBER

Hello Friends,
I talk a lot about sin and the importance of avoiding it. When I do this, I will also include Bible verses that support what I am saying. The reason I’m telling you this is because although I may be including some verses in my text, maybe a few verses aren’t enough. Sometimes we need more than just one reminder to help prevent us from working against God by giving in to our flesh. Romans 6:23 says – “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

There are thousands and thousands of verses in the Bible that talk against sin and share the dangers of the sins that we may be tempted with. If avoiding sin wasn’t important, then God wouldn’t have made sure that nearly half of the Bible warns against sin and/or encourages purity. Below are many Bible verses that I have recently read that warn against sin and that encourage us to live a life for God.

Disclaimer - We all have flesh, thus causing us to sin. The reason Jesus died on the cross was to pay for our sins so that we can be saved from the second death. However, just because we are forgiven for our sins doesn’t mean we should continue to commit them. We should make it an effort to avoid sin and to become the best version of ourselves that we can be for Christ.

Psalm 1:1, Psalm 1:6, James 4:4, 1 Corinthians 15:33, Colossians 3:2, Psalm 4:5, 1 Corinthians 5:11, 2 Corinthians 6:14, Galatians 5:19-21, Psalm 9:15, Proverbs 4:13, Proverbs 6:16-19, 1 Peter 2:11, 1 Timothy 3:6, and James 1:12.

Whenever you feel you’re being tempted by your flesh to sin, please reference these verses, and you will be reminded about the importance of avoiding sin and the importance of staying pure for your father who is in heaven.

In Christ,
Noah Brewster

P.s. If you have no intention of referencing any of the verses above, please give your Bible to someone who will take God’s word seriously.  God Bless!

MAINTAINING A GOOD PHILOSOPHY

Hello Friends,
A person’s philosophy is how they see life; it includes what their moral standards are and what their outlook on life is. It is very important that we maintain a good philosophy. How we look at sin is very important. If a Christian believes that it is okay to be involved in sin or to hang around the heathen, they will most likely be involved in sin and will hang around the heathen. This is a very dangerous thing for a Christian to do.

For most people, the extent of their conviction is that they should be nice to people and should try to be good; but there is so much more to it than that. Personally, I make it an effort to read the Bible, to avoid sin, and to help other Christians grow. I believe that this is what every Christian should be doing; that is my philosophy. My philosophy has helped to keep me pure and morally upright.

Colossians 2:8 instructs – “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” A person’s philosophy will cause them to either do good, evil, or to be lukewarm. Please make sure that you have a healthy philosophy.

HOW TO MAKE SATAN YOUR ENEMY

Hello Friends,
Many Christians will say that they despise Satan’s ways, but then they will give in to sin on a daily basis. And I’m not just talking about infrequent sins, I’m talking about sins that people will stay caught up in throughout their entire life without even realizing it. To help mend this detrimental lifestyle that some people have, I am going to inform you of some ways that you can work against Satan by working for God.

LIVING FOR CHRIST:
How do you make Satan your enemy? By reading the Bible and by living a life for Christ. When we surround ourselves with positive, healthy and Godly things, we will have less time for the negative, unhealthy things that this world tries to throw at us. By reading the Bible and helping others, we will have more confidence and more peace. When you have peace and confidence, it will be more difficult for Satan to cloud your judgement. Romans 5:1 states – “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

SIN TOLERANCE:
If we are truly saved, then sin should bother us. If we have no problem with surrounding ourselves with immoral music, bad movies, or immoral friends, then something is truly wrong. The world is trying to get people to be tolerant of sin, but just like a Christian should be separate from the world, they should also be separate from the world’s lifestyle and its values. Psalm 1:1 says – “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.”

That’s it, that is how you work against Satan. It is very crucial that we stay morally upright, and that we stay away from worldly influences. When we are caught up in a sin, we are following Satan, but when we follow God’s word, we are living for Christ. So choose to live a life for God, and in doing so, you will make Satan despise you even more than he already does; and that’s good, because that mean that you are doing the right thing.

SOME HOPE FOR YOUR FUTURE

Hello Friend,
God wants you to be happy, and He wants for you to prosper in this life. However, God is not controlling your actions, and therefore, if you desire the kind of lifestyle that God wants you to have; you must make it an effort to point your life in the right direction. A big part of living the right kind of life is avoiding negativity and embracing positivity.

How to be more positive:
God doesn’t want His children to be negative. He also doesn’t want for people to feel sorry for themselves. When we do this, we put ourselves in a spiritual rut that can be very difficult to escape from. The way we begin to fix this is by focusing on the positive, mending the broken, and by ignoring the things that we can’t change. When you do this, you will be surprised how much better you feel about yourself, and about the current challenge you may be facing.

Below are some verses to help improve your attitude,
and to give you hope for the future:

Romans 15:13 – “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”

Romans 5:2 – “By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”

Deuteronomy 31:6 – “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.”

According to the Webster’s dictionary, Hope is defined as a feeling of expectation and desire for something to happen. So, we need to ask ourselves this; what is it that we are anticipating? We are anticipating the second coming of our lord and savior Jesus Christ. The reason that we are on this planet is so that we can prepare ourselves for the glorious return of our God, and to bring others to the saving grace of Christ. So, we must maintain a good attitude and continue to remember what our deepest desire should be. I hope that I have been effective in reminding you what we should be hoping for, and how magnificent it will be when God returns for us.

SHOULD WE JUDGE OTHER CHRISTIANS?

Hello Friends,
A common debate in the Christian society today is whether we are to judge other Christians or not. I have met many people who say that it’s wrong to judge Christians, but when I ask them why they believe this, they can never give me a straight answer. Today I would like to share with you what the facts are regarding this matter, and what God says about it in the Bible.

They say that you can’t judge a book by its cover, but is that true? If a book has a violent cover, or the title has a bad word in it, wouldn’t you be able to tell that this is the type of book that you shouldn’t be reading? The same goes for people. When someone claims to be a Christian, but you hear them swear frequently, or you see them post immoral things, or do immoral things, then to you, it should seem evident that they aren’t truly saved. But is doing this wrong? Is deciding for yourself whether someone else is saved or not a good idea?

According to the Webster’s dictionary, to judge simply means to form an opinion of something by observing the evidence. So, when you see someone acting a certain way and you create your own opinion of it, you are judging, and that’s okay.

Let me ask you a question; how would you ever know whether you should be around a certain person or not, if you don’t evaluate that person’s actions and form an opinion of them? See, God wants you to stay pure mentally and physically, and to do this, you need to surround yourself with people who are also striving to do the same. 1 Corinthians 5:12-13 states – “For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? Do not ye judge them that are within? But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.”

The Bible warns against judging heathens, for God will judge them in the end times. You can, however, judge Christians. But the common question here is whether you should or not. In my opinion, it is crucial that you judge (form an opinion of) other Christians. The Bible also states this in many verses. (I am not referring to the judgement that Christ spoke of when he warned against hypocritical judging and/or judging with condemnation. As this would clearly be sin.) I recommend that you read Psalms and Corinthians to learn more about this subject from the Book itself.

I hope that you can understand how crucial judging other Christians is. If you have no opinion about something, then you will fall for anything. This can be detrimental to your spirit. But, if you are cautious about who you associate with, then you will be able to stay pure, and you will be able to grow in Christ more quickly.

MAKING GOD YOUR FRIEND

Hello Friends,
Are you saved? Are you living like you’re saved? Are you growing in Christ?  Once you become saved you may notice that the people of the world are ignoring you. You must know that when this happens, you have the perfect opportunity to begin establishing a relationship with God.

When people become saved, they should begin growing in Christ, and this will cause them to separate from their worldly friends. But, when you have lots of friends, you won’t feel the need to establish a relationship with God. When you begin growing after you become saved, however, you will naturally separate from the friends that aren’t growing; this in turn will cause you to be withdrawn from the many distractions that can come from having these types of friends. Proverbs 18:24 says – “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” When you are withdrawn from distractions, you will have more time to read the Bible and to pray. This will help to form a close relationship with God.  James 4:8 warns – “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”

The Bible talks extensively about abstaining from the things of the world. This may be challenging, but if we want to build a close relationship with God, then we need to be willing to drop the sinful habits that we may have. James 4:4 says – “…Know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”

Despite what may happen to you on this planet, as long as you are praying, abstaining from bad influences, and studying the Bible you will always have a friend in God.

KEEP ON KEEPING ON

Hello Friends,
God loves you, and He wants you to thrive in this life and the next. As Christians we should have a desire to care for ourselves as much as God does. We also need to believe in ourselves. To do this; we need to do things to boost our confidence. Today I am going to give you a few tips on how to boost your confidence and how to start believing in yourself.

Bible Reading:  The more we read the Bible, the more we will understand how to live our lives in a healthy, Godly manner. When we do this, we become more of who God would have us be and less of who we once were. Reading the Bible will also teach us about God and about evil; and we will better understand the significance of living for Christ. Romans 15:4 says – “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”

Exercise:  I recently began working out four to five days a week. Since I began doing this more consistently, I’ve felt much better about myself and my ability to serve God. See, when we take care of our bodies we will have more energy and more confidence so that we can more effectively serve the creator. Whether it’s walking, jogging, or lifting weights, we should all be doing something physical frequently to help our mind work better, and to boost our confidence. 1 Corinthians 6:20 states – “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.”

Helping Others:  God encourages every person to help others. When we lift other people up, not only will it help them, but it will also help improve our attitude, and it will help us realize what is truly important in this life. We should always help motivate and inspire others by being a good example for them. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 says – “Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.”

A lot of people feel down about themselves; maybe it’s from past mistakes that they are holding onto, or maybe they are in a rut because they are lacking a healthy support group. Whatever the reason is, we should never lose confidence in ourselves. God loves you, and He believes in you, and you should do the same by having confidence and by believing in yourself.

Living for Christ

Hello Friends,
Let me ask you a question; would you die for Christ? For some of us, that is a simple question. He died for us, so it is only fitting that we would be willing to do the same. Now let me ask you this; would you be willing to live for Christ? I’m sure that every Christian would say yes, but what if living for Jesus wasn’t as simple as you though it was…

Just saying that you believe in God and the death of Jesus doesn’t mean that you are living for Christ. It takes action to live for Him. Living for Christ means to stop doing the sinful things that you used to do, and to begin doing the things that God would have you do to improve your life. Suddenly, being a Christian isn’t so simple. It actually requires dedication to live for God. If you are a Christian, you should have a desire to change, and your salvation should show through your actions. James 2:14 says – “What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works?”

Why change is so hard:

As humans, we have flesh, and that flesh, by nature, is what causes us to sin. But, the very reason that Jesus sacrificed himself for us is so that we can be saved from our sins. So, if we are saved from the consequences of our sins, does this mean that we can continue in our sin? God forbid. Most people struggle with change because they are pulled by their past. The sinful things that they used to do are fun and enticing. But, as Christians, we need to stop listening to immoral music, watching films with suggestive content, and surrounding ourselves with immoral family and friends.

The solution:

As long as we surround ourselves with quality people, and if we read and study the Bible almost daily, we will have more clarity of mind, and most of the avenues for sin to get in will be gone. Once you abstain from bad influences it will be easier to start changing into a better person. When you do this, you will please yourself, and you will please God.

How to Improve Your Quality of Life

Hello Friends,
Are you content with where you currently are in your life? If you are, that is good; but your quality of life can always improve. I would like to help improve your quality of life by sharing a few tips on what to do, and what not to do.

What not to do:

Some people lack the motivation that is required to help mend the parts of their lives that are broken. This is called laziness. When you neglect to do something that you know you should be doing it will create self-doubt; self-doubt in turn can cause you to stay in the same spiritual rut for weeks, months, and even years in some cases. Each individual has a reason for this lack of motivation; sometimes it’s caused by a lack of support in your friendship circle, a lack of energy because of a poor diet, or often times, it’s because you don’t have balance. Laziness and self-doubt are two of the most dangerous things that you could ever waste your energy on. James 1:6 says – “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.”

What to do:

One of the most important things that we all must strive for is balance. Balance can be established by doing all of the things you know you need to do to achieve ultimate peace. A large portion of the Bible contains information on how to have peace in your life. To be the strong minded Christian warriors that God would have us be, we need to strive for peace by achieving balance. Proverbs 11:1 says – “A false balance is abomination to the Lord: but a just weight is his delight.”

We should read the Bible daily, study God’s word with other Christians, be hard workers, read motivational books, take care of our bodies by eating healthy and exercising, and we should always strive to help improve other people’s quality of life. This in turn will give you the confidence that you need, and it will help you achieve the balance and peace that you should strongly desire.

SEX

Hello Friends,
Sex used to be something that a man and a woman would share when they became wed to one another. Although it is pleasurable, it’s not what they were together for. In the modern world, however, many people will not get married, and instead they will live a life of sin through fornication. This is not in God’s best, and He warns against committing these types of sins in His word.

1 Corinthians 7:2 says – “Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.” It is good for a man and a woman to be close physically, but it is of greater importance that a couple grows together in Christ. After all, that’s the reason we are on this planet. When we marry someone, it gives us the opportunity to grow with that person and to become all that we can be for Christ, together.

Modern music and television promote premarital sex; and they neglect to warn of the consequences of these actions. God warns of this all throughout the Bible; and He doesn’t do it to be harsh, He does it to prevent you from having to experience emotional pain. According to thedatereport.com over 85 percent of relationships result in breakups. So tell me, would you want to fornicate with someone only to break things off a little while later? When we do this, emotional pain becomes inevitable. 1 Corinthians 6:18 says – “Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.”

The Bible clearly states that people who are caught up in a sin will not enter the gates of Heaven. If two people are having premarital sex, they are clearly caught up in this sin; and therefore, they will not be saved.

I am going to keep myself pure, and I would challenge you to do the same. Sex between a married couple is condoned by God, but fornication is not. If we abstain from fornication, it will be much more pleasurable when we become intimate with our spouse, and it will be in God’s will.

THE IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY

Hello friend,
Years ago, Christian families were close; the parents were best friends, the children got along, and they all would conduct Bible studies together frequently. These days, however, family members rarely see each other. In many households the mom and dad both work, the children are raised by the worldly public school system, and because they are rarely around one another, the family is torn apart. There is a way to mend this, and it’s by putting God at the center. No one should have to be alone, and you don’t have to be. Today I am going to give you a few tips on how to improve your family life.

John 15:12-13 says – “This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” Although having friends aside from your family members is important, we should be more concerned about making our family our friends. A family should be almost insuperable so that nothing can drive them apart. In effort to do this, we should study the Bible with our family. When we make Christ the head of our home, everything else will fall into its correct place. 1 Corinthians 11:3 says – “…The head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.”

If you will make a determined effort to fix the state of your home, I guarantee you will see results. Maybe your family members are always busy, and maybe they have no desire to mend things, thus making you the only one with the determination to do so. All you have to do is show them more attention and show them more love. We all make ourselves too busy; but if we clear our schedule and take the time to talk about God and to show each other love, then I assure you that something good will come out of it. After doing that, if they show no desire to grow in Christ with you, (Like Christian family members should), then it shows that you are unevenly yoked. But, at least you will build character from trying.

Hard times come, and the flesh will always fight us, but if you and your family grow together by reading the Bible, and if you stand strong together in God, then the devil will have no power against you.

God bless,
Noah Brewster

WHAT I WANT TO BE FOR MY FUTURE WIFE

Someday I will meet a woman and fall in love; but before I do this, I want to make sure that I am a strong, loving, God fearing man. I want to strive for perfection so that I can reach excellence. See, I want a woman who has these qualities, and if I want her, I need to possess these qualities as well.

Disclaimer: I will never be perfect, none of us will, but we must make it an effort to strive for perfection; therefore, we will have peace knowing that we tried our best.

These are the qualities I want my future wife to see in me:

A Humble Spirit:  When someone is pride filled, it shows a lack of love. How can you love your spouse like you should if you are so caught up in yourself? If you are full of pride like this, you will not accept correction, and you will most likely assume that you are always right. This leaves the door of correction closed when it should always be open. I work hard on growing myself mentally and spiritually, I lift weights and eat healthy, and even though I may be more morally upright than some that is no excuse to be conceded. I pray that I can stay humble for the rest of my days on this earth. Matthew 23:12 says – “And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.”

A Loving Heart:  When I finally find a woman, she will mean the world to me, and I will never want to do anything to compromise that. I pray that I will always be loyal and loving to the woman that I date/marry. I want to be respectful towards her, and I want to show her appreciation. God calls us to love and respect one another always. This is what I will strive to do. Corinthians 3:19 instructs – “Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.”

God at the Center: God needs to be at the center of a man and a woman’s relationship. I pray that we both can respect and fear God equally. We should both study the Bible together, and we should challenge each other to be all that we can be for our spouse and for God. When Christ is the main focus, then you will sin less. When you focus on Christ, you will be more apt to follow his word. Joshua 24:15 says – “…Choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

A Good Supporter: I want to possess the ability to support my wife spiritually and financially. I don’t want us to struggle to survive. If I am doing my job as a husband correctly, then we will always have food on the table, and my wife will always be supported the way that she should be. I am developing my skills now so that I can have a stable income in the future. I also want to support my wife in her ideas; if there is something that she wishes to do, or if there is a goal that she wants to pursue, then I should aid and support her in it, (As long as it’s in God’s will). 1 Timothy 5:8 says – “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.”

So basically, I want to be a strong minded, humble, healthy, supportive, God fearing, wife loving, Christian man. This will help ensure a happy and prosperous relationship.

God bless,
Noah Brewster

THE WOMAN OF MY FUTURE

Someday I will meet a woman and fall in love; but before falling in love, I must first make sure that she is following the Bible the way that God would want her to. If we strive for perfection, we cannot go wrong. This is the type of mentality that I want for my future spouse to have.

Disclaimer:  What I think of how a Christian woman should act is not just my opinion, it is God’s opinion, and it is stated in the Bible.

These are the qualities that I want my future wife to have:

Modesty: When I’m out in public with my wife, I don’t want another man lusting after her because she chose to wear a low cut shirt or tight pants. Form fitting clothing leaves almost nothing to the imagination. God wouldn’t want someone dressing like this. The Bible states that women also shouldn’t wear jewelry. A flashy necklace will draw men’s eyes to a woman’s neck and/or her chest area. 1 Timothy 2:9 says – “…Women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire.”

Submission: Someone needs to manage the household, and it wouldn’t matter to me which one does it, but God has it that the wife would submit to the husband. God has it that the man works and is in charge of the home, and that the wife is to raise the children and comfort the man. Call me sexist all you want, but God’s word is sound. Ephesians 5:22 says – “Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.” Also, 1 Corinthians 11:3 states – “…The head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

A pure mind: It is very crucial that we avoid watching films that are rated R or that have suggestive content in them. We need to avoid listening to music with cussing or sensual lyrics, and we must abstain from immoral company. (And this means refraining from people that don’t practice these things as well.) 1 Thessalonians 5:22 says – “Abstain from all appearance of evil.”  How can we keep a pure mind when we put garbage in it? What we put in will always come out.

Discipline: A Christian should stand out from a crowd; someone should be able to tell you are different just by looking at you. Our speech, our appearance, our diet, our communication, and our integrity, should be different from most people. Christians should eat healthy and exercise; this helps to build discipline, and we will be more effective in serving Christ when we do this because we will have more energy, we will feel better, and we will be more motivated. Our body represents God, and we need to preserve it. It says in 1 Corinthians 6:19 - “know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”

Character: I want for my future friend/girlfriend/wife to have character; not just for my sake, but for hers too. We aren’t on this planet just to survive from day to day; we should be trying new things and having new experiences constantly. Challenges and hardships also build character. Most hardships for Christians come from being different, as Christians will be pulled apart from immoral family members, and they will stop doing the things that they did when they weren’t saved. We need to try to become all that we can be for Christ, and for ourselves.  Romans 5:3-4 says – “…We glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope.”

So basically, I'm looking for a girlfriend/wife that dresses modestly, who cares about her health, reads the Bible often, has character, respects me, loves herself, loves God, and stays pure.

God bless,
Noah Brewster
