MAKING GOD YOUR FRIEND

Hello Friends,
Are you saved? Are you living like you’re saved? Are you growing in Christ?  Once you become saved you may notice that the people of the world are ignoring you. You must know that when this happens, you have the perfect opportunity to begin establishing a relationship with God.

When people become saved, they should begin growing in Christ, and this will cause them to separate from their worldly friends. But, when you have lots of friends, you won’t feel the need to establish a relationship with God. When you begin growing after you become saved, however, you will naturally separate from the friends that aren’t growing; this in turn will cause you to be withdrawn from the many distractions that can come from having these types of friends. Proverbs 18:24 says – “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” When you are withdrawn from distractions, you will have more time to read the Bible and to pray. This will help to form a close relationship with God.  James 4:8 warns – “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”

The Bible talks extensively about abstaining from the things of the world. This may be challenging, but if we want to build a close relationship with God, then we need to be willing to drop the sinful habits that we may have. James 4:4 says – “…Know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”

Despite what may happen to you on this planet, as long as you are praying, abstaining from bad influences, and studying the Bible you will always have a friend in God.

KEEP ON KEEPING ON

Hello Friends,
God loves you, and He wants you to thrive in this life and the next. As Christians we should have a desire to care for ourselves as much as God does. We also need to believe in ourselves. To do this; we need to do things to boost our confidence. Today I am going to give you a few tips on how to boost your confidence and how to start believing in yourself.

Bible Reading:  The more we read the Bible, the more we will understand how to live our lives in a healthy, Godly manner. When we do this, we become more of who God would have us be and less of who we once were. Reading the Bible will also teach us about God and about evil; and we will better understand the significance of living for Christ. Romans 15:4 says – “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”

Exercise:  I recently began working out four to five days a week. Since I began doing this more consistently, I’ve felt much better about myself and my ability to serve God. See, when we take care of our bodies we will have more energy and more confidence so that we can more effectively serve the creator. Whether it’s walking, jogging, or lifting weights, we should all be doing something physical frequently to help our mind work better, and to boost our confidence. 1 Corinthians 6:20 states – “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.”

Helping Others:  God encourages every person to help others. When we lift other people up, not only will it help them, but it will also help improve our attitude, and it will help us realize what is truly important in this life. We should always help motivate and inspire others by being a good example for them. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 says – “Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.”

A lot of people feel down about themselves; maybe it’s from past mistakes that they are holding onto, or maybe they are in a rut because they are lacking a healthy support group. Whatever the reason is, we should never lose confidence in ourselves. God loves you, and He believes in you, and you should do the same by having confidence and by believing in yourself.

Living for Christ

Hello Friends,
Let me ask you a question; would you die for Christ? For some of us, that is a simple question. He died for us, so it is only fitting that we would be willing to do the same. Now let me ask you this; would you be willing to live for Christ? I’m sure that every Christian would say yes, but what if living for Jesus wasn’t as simple as you though it was…

Just saying that you believe in God and the death of Jesus doesn’t mean that you are living for Christ. It takes action to live for Him. Living for Christ means to stop doing the sinful things that you used to do, and to begin doing the things that God would have you do to improve your life. Suddenly, being a Christian isn’t so simple. It actually requires dedication to live for God. If you are a Christian, you should have a desire to change, and your salvation should show through your actions. James 2:14 says – “What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works?”

Why change is so hard:

As humans, we have flesh, and that flesh, by nature, is what causes us to sin. But, the very reason that Jesus sacrificed himself for us is so that we can be saved from our sins. So, if we are saved from the consequences of our sins, does this mean that we can continue in our sin? God forbid. Most people struggle with change because they are pulled by their past. The sinful things that they used to do are fun and enticing. But, as Christians, we need to stop listening to immoral music, watching films with suggestive content, and surrounding ourselves with immoral family and friends.

The solution:

As long as we surround ourselves with quality people, and if we read and study the Bible almost daily, we will have more clarity of mind, and most of the avenues for sin to get in will be gone. Once you abstain from bad influences it will be easier to start changing into a better person. When you do this, you will please yourself, and you will please God.
